Italian actress Isabella Orsini married her very own handsome prince, Edouard de Ligne de La Tremoille, for a second time in a fairytale religious ceremony at the weekend.
Clutching a bouquet of crimson roses, Isabella – seen on screen in ‘Il Sangue e la Rosa’, The Blood and the Rose – looked radiant as she exchanged vows with her spouse in western Belgium, three days after they were first united in a civil ceremony.
She wore a beautiful A-line bridal creation by designer Gerald Watelet topped off with a delicate lace jacket.
And her traditional veil was adorned by a sparkling tiara made up of aquamarine gems and diamonds.
While the invitiations were limited, that didn’t stop the locals coming out in force to share Isabella – the goddaughter of Italian prime minister Silvio Berlusconi – and Edouard’s special day.
As the bells pealed out in Antoing to announce the happy news, residents gathered outside the church to watch as the bride, flanked by a number of young bridesmaids with rings of rose buds in their hair, released a dove to mark the happy occassion.
The newlyweds then climbed into a horse-drawn carriage to head off for their post-wedding celebrations.
It was a particularly joyous occassion for the people of the Belgium commune, who no doubt regard Edouard as one of their own.
The 12th century castle in Antoing is the ancestral home to his family and it will soon become the new residence for Isabella, who is now styled HH Princess.
Edouard is the son of Charles-Antoine Lamoral, Prince de Ligne de La Tremoille, the third cousin once removed of Michel, the 14th prince of Ligne.
Michel is the head of the House Of Ligne, one of the oldest and most prestigious Belgian noble families dating back to the 11th century.
